Afterlife Story Lab

Original stories for podcast, page, and screen. Developed and produced at the lab. Bristol, England  ·  2026

Afterlife Story Lab is an independent story studio in Bristol, founded by Lindsay Clift, building original stories across film, television, books, and audio. One theme runs through all of it: what we leave behind.

Lindsay Clift is a writer, producer, and the founder of Afterlife Story Lab. She holds an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film Academy. Her work lives in the darkly comic space between life and death. Her screenwriting has been recognised by the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival (Semifinalist), and Screencraft Film Fund (Finalist). Her first produced feature, Silent Prey, premiered to a sold-out audience at Dances With Films LA in 2025. She lives in Bristol and writes across film, television, books, and audio, with a sharp eye for the absurd and a soft spot for the ones still here.

"Every story should feel intimate. Darkly funny. Gently haunted. True."

What we create

Film & Television
Supernatural dramedies. Dark comedies with weight. Genre stories that take their characters seriously.
Publishing
Novels. Novellas. Short fiction. Companion works that build out the worlds.
Audio
Narrative podcasts. Monologue stories. Strange hybrid forms.

How the lab works

One story leads. The rest hold their place on the slate. Four formats, one theme: the space between life and death.

Validate
Prove the idea in a small, finished form. A short, a pilot, a first episode that earns its audience.
Multiply
Carry the world into the formats that suit it. A series, a novel, a podcast, each one feeding the next.
Scale
Grow the proven stories into a slate, owned outright, with the work itself as the throughline.
